Sparked a thought?

So maybe I'm the one who sparked the thought that sent him into the realm of Law Enforcement...sometimes, I laugh at the absurdity of that thought...other times, I remember my mother-in-law telling me that he always wanted to be a cop.

My husband wanted to be a cop, but he also liked money. It's that simple. So he chose Finance.

Then September 11th came, and he began percolating. We both were. I felt restless at work, and suddenly I had little to no filter over the phone. I actually said to someone one day, "You've got to be effing kidding me," when they requested hot cookies and cold milk upon arrival in Amsterdam.

I swear I thought I only said it in my head.

In the meantime, he found out about a program in our county: they had a PSEF Police Force, and were looking to recruit new members in Fall 2001. PSEF is different than an auxiliary police force, as they actually go through the Police Academy part-time and they get to carry an actual weapon. This intrigued hubby. He talked to me about it.

"Do you think you can handle that with your work schedule?"

I laugh now...hee hee, oh, ho-ho...what I wouldn't do for THAT schedule again!

He said yes. He applied. Of course, they chose him. He went through the training, got sworn in, and began serving. And he was happy. I was happy he was happy.

And for a couple of years, it was enough.
