Food for Thought

Cops are People.
And People are Cops.

Although those two sentences might seem a bit simplistic, I think sometimes it's helpful to remind the general public that just because my husband wears a uniform...he's not only one of the pack, but an individual, who sometimes gets:
tired, cranky, hot in the pounds of gear he's carrying in 90 degree heat, happy to see someone, scared for just a moment, irritated with the bosses, not up on every single cop story ever, not the guy who gave you a ticket the other day, overwhelmed with the level of bullshit he has to deal with, thrilled to be off shift, hungry, full, needing caffeine, not looking forward to work when friends are heading off to the pool...

The point? We're all human beings.
So if you see a cop over this Holiday Week, take a minute and think about the fact that as you're heading off to the pool/beach/fireworks event, this person is at work. And just like most human beings, he'd much rather be at the beach.
