Onward Ho

Thanksgiving came and went and we were barreling towards the end. I couldn't believe that Christmas was around the corner, and that in about one month's time Roc would be a full-fledged NYC Police Officer. He was still at the Academy every weekday, but we filled every weekend with all things Christmas: we knew that the years coming up might not give us as much time to do all the kitschy things we loved, so we booked ourselves solid. We even got tickets to Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular, which I hadn't seen since I was a little kid.
Of course, that was the night that Roc got stuck late at the Academy and we almost missed the show. Looking back, I realize that it was the prelude to the kiss: my entire life would be ruled by the schedule and whimsy of the NYPD, I just didn't know it then.

  1. Your last sentence: boom. Spot on. Do not pass go. PERFECT.

My friends and family keep seeing me at events, but not him, since he can't ever make it. I call him my make-believe boyfriend. :)
