Big Funeral

There was a big funeral not too far from where we live yesterday.
Last week a cop was shot and killed in a small city about two and a half hours north of NYC. My Dad lives in Upstate New York, so it's not too far from where he lives. I have a friend who is a Detective for the City Of Poughkeepsie Police.

Detective John Falcone was killed in the line of duty. I didn't know him, although I'm sure my friend did, and either way...we all bleed blue at times like these.

I heard that the NYPD Pipes & Drums escorted the casket to the grave site. I'm sure that they did a fine job. I also heard that over ten thousand officers attended the wake and the funeral.

I sincerely hope that I never have to go to a service like that. After 9/11, I was at the funeral for a firefighter and thought for sure my heart had broken open.

My deepest sympathies once again.
