Just Stop

If you're going to tell me that you understand my life because your husband also works nights, please stop.
If you're about to say that you totally get it, how working for the Government is hard, because your significant other is a...postal worker...please refrain.
UNLESS AND UNTIL YOUR HUSBAND LEAVES THE HOUSE STRAPPING A BULLET-PROOF VEST ON HIS BODY, HAS TWO GUNS TACKED TO HIS ARM, AND WALKS RIGHT INTO THE HEART OF DANGER EVERY SINGLE NIGHT...
...Just Stop.

  1. Hello SCW,
I think I can sympathize with you. My husband has been a fireman for the last 4 years, and is starting a police job soon. I know what it's like missing him 24-28 hours, sometimes with not being able to talk to him. He was recently fitted for a bullet proof vest, and to be honest, it scared me. I would rather he have it, but I hope he never needs it. I hope you are able to find comfort somehow. You're not alone.

  2. Well...welcome. As you'll soon find out, sometimes you just need to vent!!
Good Luck to you both in his new endeavor.
    Best,

  5. Mrs. Match hit that nail on the head! Hubs is a Sheriff's Deputy as well, and for the first 7yrs of his career (which included the first 5yrs of our marriage and the first 3yrs of our daughter's life) he was on nights. Even our families didn't get why he couldn't come to family get togethers at noon on his day off (um hello? got home from work at 6am and in bed at 7am - duh!) and it drives me nuts. he went to days in February just before our second daughter was born and I'm loving that we get to see him more than just a couple of days a week, but I've found people still don't get how his scheduling works, or that he might like to spend hos days off doing nothing but de-stressing in front of a football game on TV. it's maddening. love my hubs, and he loves his job, so I'll keep trying to explain it to those who love us... for now. ;)
