I was hooked, but I had nothing to hang my star on at that point in my life. I was about to graduate high school and had absolutely no plan in hand. I knew what I liked to do, but didn't know how to do it. I had no money for college. I figured I would continue to work at the mall and figure it out. I had a Senior Guidance Counselor at the time who found this to be a tragedy; I agreed with him, but I also knew that he didn't understand my life.
I graduated High School, kept working, and opted for survival. I was waiting to leave. All thoughts and dreams pursuant to anything creative still lingered in the back of my head, but I was a kid in crisis, and I had to do what I had to do. I kept writing, but I shelved the rest.
And that was that for a very long time.
