Stewey and Angie

I have a funny story to share about our dear neighbors, Stewey and Angie. Let me start by saying this: they are the type of neighbors everyone wants to have. They always have what you need if you run out unexpectedly, they are fun people who love to come over and toast to any good thing in our lives or theirs, and they have a great kid who is always welcome in my home.
That said: Roc and I had a Christmas shindig recently, and of course Stewey and Angie stopped by after a dinner they had attended...they were already a little buzzed, but they didn't have far to go, so we plied them with more drinks and watched them move from buzzed to drunk in record time. In fact, I will go so far as to say that I have never seen Stewey or Angie that intoxicated---ever. When it was time for them to leave, Roc grabbed another cop friend, Jose, and insisted on actually walking them next door. Roc grabbed Stewey and Jose directed Angie from our stoop to theirs. Apparently, Stewey was teetering, and having a hard time navigating the stairs. The boys dumped them off at home and then returned to our party.
A day or two later, Angie called to see what had gone on. She said she vaguely remembered being escorted by Jose and Roc. We had a good laugh, and then she said that when Stewey woke up, he turned to her and said: "Why are my wrists all black and blue?"
"Because Roc was escorting you across the lawn like a perp."
I rolled.
I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard.
